End of W08

The quarter is finally coming to an end. Having finished my finals, all I have to do now are a few short summaries, then it’s pack up and go home! This past quarter has been a real blessing, in terms of school and ministry. I was able to finish strong and keep a cool head, even with two finals and a term project due, all on Monday. The Lord has given me strength to endure, and even when my own strength fails, He is there to renew me. This past weekend was all running on fumes for me, and I have no idea how I was able to finish the project and prepare for the two finals, except that I received supernatural endurance.

In terms of ministry, the small group Bible study I am leading has seen some growth. I can see that the small groupies are growing closer to each other and are more open to talk about personal issues. Leading them has been a challenging experience, not only in the weekly preparation of lessons from 1 Corinthians, but also in identifying their needs and knowing how to help them. The more I know them, the more I realize that my own experience is not enough to guide them, and only the wisdom and truth found in Scripture is sufficient for their growth. Every week is a lesson in humility for me, as well as a lesson on trusting in and relying on the Lord. I have learned so much from studying the epistle of 1 Corinthians, and have been convicted on many occasions by the truth that it presents. How far we fall short of the glory of God! Yet Christ is the perfector of our faith, and I long for the day of glory that’s promised in Scripture. Maranatha! Our Lord, come!

Quarter Ending…

The end is in sight, soon the troubles and tribulations of this quarter will be over. In retrospect, I probably bit off more than I can chew for this quarter in terms of school work. On top of that, small group leading is no small task. But even amid this busyness, the Lord has been faithful, like always, to show me sins that I must deal with and the blessings that come from obedience. Reading and studying His Word has been a joy, where there is always something that I would learn that I did not notice or realize before, such as the glorious plan of salvation clearly laid out in 1 Peter 1. Our study of 1 Corinthians in small group has been convicting, especially for me, yet encouraging, since Paul himself is leading us towards holiness by example in his letter. Moreover, the study in Romans during our on-campus Bible study not only convicted our hearts and humbled our spirits, but it has instilled a much higher view of God’s holiness and a greater appreciation of the sacrifice of his Son on our behalf. Oh how despicable is our sin, how powerless our strength, how hopeless our condition, yet how great is His love, how precious His sacrifice, how grand His salvation! We have hope of eternal life in Christ and the assurance of our salvation. Nothing in creation can ever stand between us and God’s love. How much more can we ask for than to have our debts forgiven and to stand blameless before a holy, righteous, and wrathful God, who, for his Son’s sake, adopts us as sons and daughters to not only receive blessings in this life, but also an inheritance in His heavenly kingdom in eternity?! If you are a fellow Christian, never forget the hope that we have in Christ, and if you are not, it’s time to repent and accept Christ as Lord and Savior, for the salvation of your soul and the promise of eternal life.
